WILMINGTON -- Jodi Katherine Powell of Raleigh and Brentley Allen Cobb of Wilmington exchanged wedding vows May 4 at Airlie Gardens in Wilmington. Pastor Keith Cobb officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Wendi and Walter Powell of Lucama. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Powell Sr., Mr. and Mrs. William F. Hill, and Ms. Audrey Stroud Powell. She graduated from Hunt High School and received a bachelor's degree in English from Appalachian State University, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is employed as a business analyst for Nortel Networks.

The bridegroom is the son of Joy and Keith Cobb of Charleston, West Va., and Janet and Sammy Poole of Wilson. He is the grandson of Mrs. Gladys Smith of Fountain, Mrs. Dorothy Garris of Elm City, and Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Parker of Wilson. He graduated from Hunt High School and received a bachelor's degree in English Literature from West Virginia State University. He is a report writer for C.E.P.I.

Escorted by her father, the bride chose for her wedding a slim, one-piece A-line gown of diamond white satin. The sleeveless bodice featured lace appliques at the empire waist, cascading down one side. The back featured a deep V set-off by an asymmetrical satin drape cascading toward the hem.

The bride's veil was handmade by her mother.

Maid of honor was Jami Carolyn Powell, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Tziporah Schwartz of Washington, D.C., Catherine Skelton of Richmond, Va., Julie Anderson of Raleigh, Allison Phillips of Durham, Katherine Avila of Nashville, Tenn., and Christine Reaves of Durham.

They wore silk gowns in cornflower blue featuring knee-length A-line skirts, and a V-neck and V-back halter bodice to match the bride's gown.

Best man was Daniel McCormick of San Diego, Calif.

Groomsmen were Derek Cobb of Wilson, Sammy Poole of Wilson, Dennis Mallory of Wilson, Adam Sexton of Wilson, Adam Smith of Wilmington, and Daniel Poole of Huntington, West Va.

Walter Lee Powell III was an usher.

Tiffany Phillips served as register attendant.

Program attendant was Cristin Thompson.

Lori Tolson, Christy Elliott, and Jennifer Hawley coordinated the wedding and reception festivities.

Wedding music was provided by violinist Maura Kropke, soloists Andrew Stonestreet and Brittany Yates, and instrumentalists Andrew Stonestreet and John Poole.

Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride's parents at the Pilot House Restaurant in Wilmington. Linda Barnes made the wedding cake and served as the cake cutter. The buttercream and white cake had hints of lemon flavoring. Music for the reception was provided by The Sea Pans, a steel drum band, as well as disc jockey Martin Miller.

On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Earlier in the day, a bridal tea was held at the Wilmington Tea Room.
