Prevatte-Wiggs
Lora Katherine Wiggs of Bailey and Darren Reid Prevatte of Wilmington exchanged marriage vows Sept. 12 on Brunswick Plantation in Calabash. The Rev. Daniel Gillespie officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.
Bill and Terry Wiggs of Wilson and Michael and Kathy Kelly of Bailey are the bride's parents. She is the granddaughter of Don and Stella Walker of Wilson, Kaye and Bill Wiggs Sr. of Kenly, and Edward and Ann Glover of Bailey. She graduated from Wilson Christian Academy and magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in accountancy. She is employed by Dixon Hughes, PPLC as a licensed CPA Audit Associate.
The groom is the son of Donnie and Cheryl Prevatte of Wilmington. He is the grandson of the late Harley and Ethel Prevatte of St. Pauls and the late Victor and Archanna Carter of Rowland. He graduated from Hoggard High School in Wilmington and cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. He also received his international master's of business administration degree at the Hochschule Bremen University of Applied Sciences in Germany. He is employed by Spawar as a research operations analyst.
Escorted by her father, Bill Wiggs, the bride wore a white strapless organza corset gown adorned with beaded lace on the bodice, skirt and chapel train.
She chose for her headpiece a single-tier short veil scattered with pearls and a pearl and crystal headband.
She also wore a Swarovski crystal necklace with matching earrings.
She carried a bouquet of stargazer lilies, ravel roses, blizzard roses, and hot pink freesia wrapped in satin and pearls.
The bride's sister, Mallory Wiggs of Wilmington, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were the groom's sister, Courtney Prevatte of Wilmington; the bride's step-sister, Chelsey Williams of Greenville; Lindsay Fisher of Wilmington; Amanda Slack of Durham; and Lindsey Averette of Charlotte.
The attendants wore strapless azalea chiffon dresses fashioned with a high-low hemline, beaded empire waist and sweetheart neckline.
Alleigh Wiggs of Hampstead, the bride's cousin, was junior bridesmaid. She wore an azalea satin ball gown designed with spaghetti straps and ruched siding.
The attendants carried bouquets of white lilies with ravel roses wrapped in satin and pearls.
The groom's father served as best man.
Groomsmen were Taylor Brown, Brendan Dearie, Craig Garrison, Bryan Porter and Lewis Hobbs, all of Wilmington.
Ushers were the bride's step-brother, Josh Williams of Greenville; the bride's cousin, Seth Wiggs of Hampstead; Brendan Hynes of Charlotte; and Ronnie Saucier and Rob Trotman of Wilmington.
The bride's cousin, Eric Price of Middlesex, was junior groomsman.
Wedding music was provided by pianist and guitarist Alyce and Steve Calfee of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and vocalist/guitarist Kevin Pulley of Zebulon.
Kellie Wiggs of Hampstead, the bride's aunt, served as register attendant.
Aunts of the bride Debra Babb of Whitakers and Wanda Price of Middlesex were program attendants.
The wedding was directed by Robin Hicken of Calabash.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Brunswick Plantation hosted by the bride's parents.
On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at Fancy Pants Beach House in Ocean Isle Beach and a bridesmaids' luncheon was hosted earlier in the day by the bride at The Boundary House in Calabash.
Also on Friday, the gentlemen enjoyed a golf outing with the groom at Brunswick Plantation.
PRE-NUPTIAL EVENTS
April 25: An engagement party pig pickin' was hosted by the bride's mother and stepfather at their home in Bailey. Approximately 70 guests attended.
June 27: A pool party honoring the couple was given by Judy Porter and her sons, Bryan and Scott, at her home in Wilmington. Approximately 50 guests attended.
July 19: A floating bridal shower was hosted by the bride's family and friends held at The Wilson House in Bailey. Approximately 25 guests attended.
July 31: A bachelor's weekend was held in Las Vegas.
Aug. 2: A bridal luncheon was hosted by the bride's family at the home of Michelle Jarrell in Wilson. Twenty-five guests attended.
Aug. 8: A shower honoring the couple was hosted by the bride's uncle and aunt, Todd and Kellie Wiggs, at their home in Hampstead. Approximately 30 guests attended.
Aug. 9: A bridal shower was given by the groom's family at the home of Sarah Carter in Laurinburg. Approximately 20 guests attended.
Aug. 21: A bachelorette weekend was hosted by the maid of honor and bridesmaids in Charleston, S.C.
