Serina-Sherrod

Amanda Michelle Sherrod and Christopher Paul Serina, both of Boone, exchanged wedding vows Saturday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. David Hines of Mount Olive officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin White Sherrod of Sims. She is the granddaughter of Thelma Sherrod of Sims and the late Harold Sherrod, and Mr. and Mrs. George T. Sharp Sr. and the late Doris Wilson Sharp. She graduated from Hunt High School and received a bachelor's degree in piano performance from Appalachian State University.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul I. Serina of Lascassas, Tenn. He is the grandson of Claire Serina of Port Orange, Fla., and the late Ignac Serina, and Paul and Rose Remenar. He graduated from Ashe County High School in West Jefferson and received a bachelor's degree in music education from Appalachian State. He is employed with Nash-Rocky Mount Schools.

Escorted by her father, the bride chose for her wedding a strapless sweetheart gown of candlelight taffeta. The wrapped bodice was decorated with lace appliques accented with hand-stitched sequins, crystals, and seed pearls. An asymmetrical side pick-up skirt revealed a jeweled tulle inset embellished with lace appliques, sequins, crystals, and seed pearls. The back of the gown featured covered buttons and flowed into a cathedral length train. The skirt was bustled in a combination of both French and pick-up bustles. The bride wore a necklace fashioned from her grandmother's diamond.

Her floor length veil featured Victorian lace trim adorned with hand-stitched sequins, crystals, and seed pearls to match the bridal gown. It was hand-stitched by her mother.

The bride carried a hand-tied clutch composed of miniature calla lilies, white irises, and daisies with tiny white freesias. Yellow tulips accentuated the arrangement.

Maid of honor was Brittany Rae Sherrod, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Amy Louise Burns of Asheville; Alyssa Caitlin Cummings of Kenly, cousin of the bride; Ashley Elizabeth Sherrod of Kernersville, cousin of the bride; and Bethany Michelle Vaughn of Greenville.

Each attendant wore a cocktail-length gown of navy chiffon with a matching sash. The bodice was overlaid with vertical shirring and the gowns featured a flare A-line skirt. The bridesmaids' bouquets featured large white calla lilies embedded in varigated greenery and loosely tied with white chiffon ribbon.

The bridegroom's father served as best man.

Groomsmen were David Saleeba Albert of Raleigh; Laurence Christopher Harvey of Raeford; Nicholas Brady Sherrod of Greenville, brother of the bride; and Kenneth Darren Workman of Thomasville.

Ring bearers were Jack Alexander Scalzo and Ryan Paul Scalzo of Lascassas, cousins of the bridegroom.

Angie Miller of Rock Ridge was register attendant.

Program attendants were Kirsten Miller of Rock Ridge and Serina Wilson of Lascassas.

Linda Miller of Rock Ridge and Debbie Hancock of Kenly, aunts of the bride, directed the wedding.

Wedding music was provided by organist Clyde Patterson, pianist Lynn Bailey, guitarist Aaron Prillaman, flutist Jenni Tesh, and vocalist Kathy Sherrod. A brass choir consisting of Scott Bailey, Brent Bingham, Joseph Brown, Kari King, Jack Malone, Matthew Talbert, Amy Thomas and Charles Thomas, also performed. The group debuted "Amanda's March," which was written by Brent Bingham in honor of the couple's marriage.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall.

A cookout was held after the reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hancock, aunt and uncle of the bride, for the couple, attendants, family, and out-of-town guests.

On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Something Different.

A bridal brunch was held at the home of the bride's mother on the day before the wedding. Hosts were the bride's mother and Linda Miller and Debbie Hancock, the bride's aunts.

The morning after the ceremony, a breakfast was held at the home of the bride's parents to honor the bridal couple and out-of-town guests.

Following their return from a honeymoon in Daytona Beach, Fla. and a cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Wilson.
