Car crash kills man By Gina Childress A 27-year-old Wilson man was killed in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning. Sgt. Jacqui Boykin with the Wilson Police Department said Jimmal C. Nesbitt of 3012 Buckingham Road, Apartment A, died as a result of injuries he sustained in the accident. Investigators believe Nesbitt was traveling east on Raleigh Road Parkway around 65 miles per hour at about 12:47 a.m., when he lost control of his vehicle in front of Ruby Tuesday's restaurant. According to a preliminary police report, Nesbitt's vehicle went airborne and struck a utility pole and a fire hydrant before rolling several times. Nesbitt was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries. Boykin said no other cars were involved in the crash and Nesbitt was traveling alone. "Speed was definitely a factor in the crash, alcohol may have also contributed to the accident," Boykin said. "The investigation is still ongoing." Raleigh Road Parkway was closed between Airport Boulevard and Forest Hills Road for about three hours following the crash. City crews were also on the scene to repair the damage to the utility pole as well as the fire hydrant. Nesbitt's funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and are being handled by Carrons Funeral Home.
