Timeline of The Wilson Daily Times
The Wilson Daily Times is the offspring of Zion's Landmark, a Primitive Baptist publication established in 1867 by Elder P. C. Gold, pastor of the Wilson Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Gold founded the P.D. Gold Publishing Company. His son, John D. Gold, joined his father in the business which published Zion's Landmark and operated a job printing shop.

- 1896, John D. Gold founded The Wilson Times, a weekly newspaper, later semi-weekly.
- 1902, the name was changed to The Wilson Daily Times.
- 1946, Gold leased the paper to H.D. Brauff of Pennsylvania.
- Elizabeth Gold Swindell was the business manager.
- 1954, Brauff purchased the paper and offered Swindell an interest to remain business manager.
- 1955, Swindell purchased Brauff''s interest returning ownership to the family that founded it.
- 1955, Swindell assumed roles of publisher and editor for the paper.
- 1957, Morgan Paul Dickerman, II joined Swindell, his mother-in-law, as associate publisher.
- 1959, Three major expansions occurred with the paper.
- 1967, an adjacent building was purchased and a new 40-page offset press installed.
- 1974, Margaret Dickerman joined her mother, Swindell in overseeing the operations of the paper.
- 1979, Morgan Paul Dickerman III joined the company as vice president and general manager.
- 1983, at Swindell's death, Dickerman was named president and publisher.
- 1983, The paper moved into a new 30,000 square-foot building on Downing Street.
- 1998, established an on-line Web edition.
- 2000, founded the Wilson County Telephone Directory.
- 2001, the press was expanded to increase its capacity to print full color.
- 2003, started X-press Speciality Advertising.
- December 2004, new press installed.
- 2005, redesigned the web site.
- 2006, purchased Money Mailer, a direct mail franchise.
- 2007, web site name changed to www.wilsontimes.com.
