BB&T Briefs By Laura Keeter | Daily Times Staff Writer BB&T promotes Provo to assistant vice president Bill Provo has been promoted to assistant vice president at BB&T. Provo, who joined the bank in 1997, is an information technology systems specialist in BB&T's IT Application and Data Services department. He is based at 2101 Tarboro St. The Wilson native earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from North Carolina State University. BB&T promotes Hollowell to assistant VP Cynthia Hollowell has been promoted to assistant vice president at BB&T. Hollowell, who joined the bank in 1983, is a technology application specialist in BB&T's ML Technology department. She is based at 2713 Forest Hills Road. The Smithfield native earned her bachelor's degree in business from Barton College. She resides in Wilson with her husband, Ken, and two daughters, Jessica and Jamie, and is a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wilson. Hollowell is the daughter of Roger and Suzanne Root of Selma. BB&T declares increase WINSTON-SALEM - BB&T Corp. has declared an increase in the 2008 third quarter dividend to 47 cents per share, a 2.2 percent increase over the 46 cents paid in the third quarter of 2007. The dividend will be paid Aug. 1 to shareholders of record as of July 11. "We are pleased to announce an increase in the cash dividend," said John Allison, chairman and CEO. "This increase marks the 37th consecutive year that BB&T has increased the cash dividend paid to shareholders and reflects our healthy capital levels." The 10-year compound growth rate for BB&T's quarterly dividend payment is 10.4 percent. BB&T has paid a cash dividend to shareholders every year since 1903. With $136.4 billion in assets, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based BB&T Corp. is the nation's 14th largest financial holding company. It operates nearly 1,500 financial centers in 11 states and Washington, D.C.
