Firefighters, deputies come to rescue on hot day June 7 was a very, very hot sultry day. A group of us had planned a trip to Bear Grass for a dinner/theater evening. Due to the number of people going, I rented a van. While at my house, somehow the van doors locked and the motor was running and we were unable to get in. We placed several calls to locksmiths and a call to the company from whom the van was rented. Due to the late afternoon hours, no help could be found. Then, one person called Eddie Smith of the Wilson County Sheriff's Department, and another person called the Wilson Fire Department, and within a very short while those men came, the van doors were unlocked and we were on our way in the cool atmosphere of the van, so thankful that those men cared enough to help. Their concerned, helpful, professional attitudes were unreal. When asked what could we do for them, the response was for us to just enjoy our trip and they were glad they could help. We're a blessed people to have firemen and a deputy of such wonderful character. Again, thank you! Jean Webb McNair Street
