Ashley Nicole Ward of Raleigh is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ward of Columbia, Tenn., who announce her engagement to James Howard Bridgers Jr. of Wilson, son of Hilda A. Bridgers of Wilson and the late James. H. Bridgers Sr. The bride is the granddaughter of Geraldine Roper of Nashville, Tenn., the late Augusta and James Roper, and the late Minnie and James Ward and Dorothy Ward of Columbia, Tenn. The bridegroom is the grandson of John and Easter Anderson of Wilson and the late Albert and Fannie Bridgers of Wilson. An Aug. 2 wedding is planned in Asheville. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the 3 p.m. ceremony.
