Clark-Prouty

Julie Ann Prouty of Wilson and Badie Travis Clark III of Charlottesville, Va., were united in marriage Saturday at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. The Rev. John Christopher Hardman officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Randolph Prouty of Wilson and Margaret Fessenden Prouty of Brewer, Maine. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jonas Prouty of Hampden, Maine, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fessenden of Bangor, Maine. She graduated from Fike High School and received an associate's degree in paralegal technologies from Wilson Community College. Prior to the wedding, she was a paralegal at Rose Rand Attorneys.

The bridegroom is the son of Annette Whaley Clark of Wilson and Badie Travis Clark Jr. of Wilson. His grandparents are the late Dr. and Mrs. Badie Travis Clark of Wilson, Mary Gilliam Clark of Wilmington, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Simeon Whaley of Kinston. He graduated from Greenfield School and received a bachelor's degree in biology from Campbell University and a doctorate from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He is currently completing a fellowship at the University of Virginia Children's Hospital in Critical Care Pediatrics.

Escorted by her father, the bride chose for her wedding a formal ivory mermaid gown. The strapless dress was fashioned with Alencon lace adorned with pearls, beads and sequins. An ivory satin sash encircled her waist and the gown cascaded into a chapel-length train. The bride wore a string of pearls and pearl earrings, given to her by the bridegroom. She also wore a ring given to her by her grandmother, Mrs. Norman J. Prouty.

Her single-tier elbow-length veil featured satin edging. She carried a bouquet of white vendella roses and white hydrangea tied with satin ribbon.

Matron of honor was Melissa Prouty Whitley of Wilson, twin sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Sonia Christine Bauer of Raleigh; Margaret Page Clark of Wilson, sister of the bridegroom; Ashley Thomas Johnson of Apex; Stephanie Marie Kriesel of Raleigh; Emily Carlton Phillips of Raleigh; and Melissa Kay Phillips of Raleigh.

The attendants wore formal gowns of peridot chiffon featuring spaghetti straps and beaded empire waists.

Michael Kinsey Barnes of Wilson served as best man.

Groomsmen were Joel Watson Barnes of Wilson, Bryan Edmonds Berry of Wilson, David James Kyle Elliott of Raleigh, David Deal Evans of Raleigh, John Christopher Gauss of Roanoke, Va., and Andrew Jefferson Whitley of Wilson, brother-in-law of the bride.

Program attendants were Karen Ellis Bass of Wilson and Jessica Stewart Davis of Raleigh.

Jean Syer Edmundson and Sue Miller Robinette directed the wedding.

Wedding music was provided by organist Philip Joseph Valera and trumpeter Daniel Lind Crocker.

After the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Wilson Country Club.

On the eve of the wedding, family and friends of the bridegroom hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Elks Lodge.

Earlier in the day, a bridesmaids' luncheon was held at the Jarman House. Hosts were Polly Buskirk, Betsy Dagenhart and Ginger Williams.

On the day of the wedding, a luncheon was hosted by Diane Kriesel and Renee Bunn.

Following their return from a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, they will live in Charlottesville.

* May 31 -- A cocktail party, hosted by friends and family, was held at the Creekside Yacht Club in Wilmington.
