Justine Artis, 54, of 204 Belmont Ave., died Monday, June 30, at Wilson Medical Center.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Black Creek. Evangelist Alton Thompson will officiate.
Burial will be held at the family plot at Hamilton Burial Gardens.
Miss Artis is survived by her sisters, Shirley Smith of Irvington, N.J., and Marshaline Thompson of Wilson; a brother, Dennis Artis, of the home; two aunts, Deszora Edwards of Goldsboro and Ellen Battle of Wilson; a special niece, Avis M. Thompson of Wilson; special nephews, James Michael Smith of Wilson and Alton Thompson of Raleigh; godmother, Nannie Barnes of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The body may be viewed Friday from 3-6 p.m. at the Carrons Funeral Home, 325 E. Nash St., Wilson.
Virginia Davis
Oct. 22, 1940 -- July 1, 2008
MORGANTON -- Virginia Anderson Davis, 68, of Clearwater Drive, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Grace Hospital. Virginia was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Wilson. She was the daughter of the late Will P. Anderson and Virginia Scott Anderson. Educated in the Wilson schools, she graduated from St. Mary's College in Raleigh, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received her master's degree from East Carolina University in Greenville. She worked in the Basic Skills Program at Wilson Technical Institute, ultimately becoming director of the program.
After her marriage to Bill Davis and her move to Morganton, she joined the Basic Skills Program at Western Piedmont Community College, eventually becoming director of the program. She retired from Western Piedmont in 2006. Virginia was formerly a board member of Burke County Literacy Council. She was a former member of the Morganton Service League. She formerly worked with the Grace Church altar and flower arranging guilds. One of her proudest accomplishments was the recent completion of mediation training, which she looked forward to using. She loved working in the yard with her flowers and plants.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Troy J. Furr III, of New York City; stepsons, William Davis Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Woodbine, Ga., Jon M. Davis of Morrisville, and Don M. Davis and wife, Rebecca, of Cary; her sister, Ann Scott Knight, of Tampa, Fla.; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of the life of Virginia Davis will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S. King St., Morganton, at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 with the Rev. Berry Kramer and the Rev. Connie Connelly officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the church Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Grace Episcopal Endowment, 303 S. Mr. Joseph Creech, 81, of 333 E. Nash St. (Cherry Apts.), Wilson, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Service for Mr. Joseph Creech will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Jackson Chapel, 571 E. Nash St. Dr. Darryl Canady will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Extension.
Loving memories of Joseph are cherished by two daughters, Joelena Harris (Bill) of Wilson and Avis Creech Davis (Rob) of Sharpsburg; two sons, Avery Creech (Glenda) of Greenville and Lionel Creech of Wilson; two sisters, Fannie Jones of Wilson and Beatrice Brown of Washington, D.C.; one brother, James Creech, of Wilson; one aunt, Addie Watkins of Washington, D.C.; one uncle, the Rev. Elizabeth W. Sauls
EUREKA -- Elizabeth Williamson Sauls, 94, died July 2, 2008, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was a long-time resident of Eureka and the widow of Ronald Earl Sauls. She was born in Lucama to the late Kinchen and Mollie Williamson Williamson. Preceding her in death also was a grandchild, Chadwick Merritt Booth; a great-grandchild, Faith Harris; sisters, Estelle and Evelyn; brothers, Ivey, Leonard, Bill, Dick, and a half-brother, Roland.
Elizabeth, known affectionately as Lib, was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was an avid gardener and loved sharing fresh vegetables and flowers with family, neighbors, and friends. Lib was a treasured friend and always greeted everyone with a warm smile.
Funeral is Friday, 11 a.m., Eureka United Methodist Church. Interment in Eureka Cemetery.
Surviving are daughters Ann Jackson and husband, Jerry, of Goldsboro and Erlene Booth and husband, Doug, of Eureka; son, Ronnie Sauls and wife, Jeannie, of Eureka; grandchildren Jay and Cindy Jackson, Jeff and Shannon Booth, Kathy and Davis Harris, Kim and Brian Andrews, Heather and Z. Xaragoza, Rhonda Booth and friend, Dean Pender; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Lee Boykin of Wilson and Lindsey Rawley of Cincinnati, Ohio; and brother-in-law, James Russell Sauls, of Fremont.

Wiley Floyd Lucas, 92, died at Traditions Nursing Home, Gahanna, Ohio, on Monday, June 30, 2008. Wiley was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Jones Lucas.
