Lookouts win NSA 14U 'B' state crown

The Carolina Lookouts Black ages 14-under softball team claimed the U.S. Fastpitch Association North Carolina state "B" championship in Kinston last weekend. Earlier this month, the Lookouts won the National Softball Association Eastern N.C. "A" championship in Smithfield.

The 10-player roster is comprised of Crystal Fulghum, Taylor Barbee, Nikki Bailey, Lauren Brinson and Courtney Raper, whom are all rising sophomores at Hunt, along with incoming Hunt freshman Caitlyn Corbett, Jenna Davis, Natalie Crocker and Morgan Farmer and rising eighth-grader Sydney Speight of Speight Middle School.

In the state championship tournament win at Kinston the Lookouts, short two players, were helped by Jenna Pate of Wilson and Kelcie Connor of Aulander, who both play for the 12U Lookouts from Nashville.

The Lookouts swing back into action this weekend in the 32-team NSA N.C. "A" championship in the Charlotte area.
