Otteson follows 1st win with 5th-place finish on FUTURES tour


HAMMOND, Ind. -- Wilson's Stephanie Otteson followed her first professional women's golf victory with a tie for 19th place in the Duramed FUTURES Tour's Horsehoe Casino Classic over the weekend.

Otteson, in her first full season on the tour, carded rounds of 73-78-74 for a 225 total over the par 36-36--72, 6,212-yard Lost Marsh Golf Course.

The product of Fike High and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington was tied for 11th after Friday's opening round. For the 54 holes, Otteson was 12 shots off the winning pace.

Victorious was Vicky Hurst of Melbourne, Fla., with rounds of 70-76-67--213. The top finish was Hurst's third in just seven 2008 tournaments.

Jin Young Pak of Kang Leung, South Korea, captured second at 71-73-70--214.

A share of 19th earned Otteson a check of $813. In the tour's money standings, Otteson dropped one position to ninth with a total of $20,361.

Hurst is the front-runner at $51,701, followed by Mindy Kim at $45,522. The runner-up finish moved Pak into the seventh spot.
